InclipIn the latest release from Universal, the "Everest" cast and crew share for the first time the difficulties in achieving realistic shots. "You can't film at home; you have to go up into the mountains, you need real snow and real weather," Jason Clarke (who plays Rob Hall) begins his story.
To realistically recreate the devastating blizzard that struck the "roof of the world" in 1996, the actors had to embody real mountaineers, with a level of performance described as "even better than acting in a movie." Even during filming, the crew faced an avalanche that buried the filming area. The main goal was to make viewers feel as though they were trapped on the mountain that night, added Thomas Wright, the Australian actor who played the mountaineer.
Through this trailer, Universal and the EVEREST film crew want to send a message of solidarity with the victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal and call for donations to the NGO Oxfam. For more details, please visit www.oxfam.org.
"Everest" is scheduled to premiere on September 18, 2015, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D formats.
