On the evening of July 6th, the final round of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2019) took place with a competition between the UK and Finland. Although JoHo Pyro – the company representing the Finnish team – was the last to fire their fireworks, they left a strong impression on the audience.

The fireworks display by JoHo Pyro Professional Fireworks AB from Finland was themed around the sea voyages of the inhabitants of the cold Nordic coastal regions. Interestingly, the team used a Vietnamese song as background music for their performance.

Approximately 10,000 fireworks were programmed and connected to over 100 computers by JoHo Pyro, allowing them to seamlessly ascend into the sky to the accompaniment of music. Earlier on the evening of June 15th, the team had eliminated the reigning champions Italy with a performance in the rain.

The new fireworks techniques showcased by the Finnish team were judged by the jury to be sophisticated.
The winning team's finale symbolized "after enduring countless dangers and hardships, the sailors return to a triumphant song." This ending was one of the highlights that helped Finland win the Da Nang Fireworks Festival on their first appearance.

The Finnish team's performance, viewed from the Son Tra peninsula, featured the hit song "Nguoi Hay Quen Em Di" (Please Forget Me), a song closely associated with My Tam, a native of Da Nang, much to the delight of the audience.
Facing newcomer Finland in the final, Pyrotex Fireworx, representing the United Kingdom, also showcased impressive fireworks displays.

The representatives from the UK continued to capitalize on their strength: the spectacular water fountain effects that had already captivated the audience and judges in the qualifying round against the Chinese team.
Many new effects were "hidden" by the UK representatives during the qualifying rounds to create a surprise. However, they could not overcome Finland's excellence to stand on the top podium and receive the award.

This is the 10th time Da Nang has hosted the international fireworks festival, and the third year it has been privatized, with businesses taking over the organization. According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, during the more than one month of the fireworks festival, the number of overnight visitors is estimated at 116,433, an 11% increase compared to the 2018 DIFF.
