In the middle of the great forest, inhabited by wild beasts and animal-headed spirits, there lived a 10-year-old wild boy, Fils Courge. He was raised by his father, a stern giant with a great beard, a great hunter and eater of fresh meat, who always told him that the world only reached the edge of the forest. However, one day, in order to save his injured father, the boy tried his best and ventured out of the forest. Thus, he discovered a neighboring village where he met Manon, the daughter of a doctor who agreed to treat his father. With Manon, Fils Courge would learn all about this strange new world called civilization, where ghosts did not exist but elves did. Because here they said that Courge's father was an elf… And elves, as they were known, were not fathers like the others.
