In the middle of a vast forest, home to wild beasts and animal spirits, lived a 10-year-old wild boy, Fils Courge. He was raised by his father, a stern giant with a magnificent beard, a skilled hunter and carnivorous eater, who always told him that the world only went as far as the forest's edge. However, one day, to save his injured father, the boy tried his best and ventured out of the forest. There, he discovered a nearby village where he met Manon, the daughter of the doctor who had agreed to treat his father. With Manon, Fils Courge would learn all about this strange new world called civilization, where there were no ghosts but instead elves. Because here they said Courge's father was an elf… And elves, as they say, weren't fathers like other people.
