"The bridge is a great metaphor, a place where strangers can gather together," said Ondrej Kobza, the event organizer, explaining that such a communal gathering is only possible in Prague when there are no tourists. "The event is a celebration, to show that we are not afraid, that we will go out and that we are no longer stuck indoors," Kobza added. Attendees brought their own food and drinks and shared them with each other.
The Charles Bridge, begun in 1357 under the patronage of Emperor Karl IV and completed in the early 15th century, is a historically significant bridge in Prague.
