March arrives, bringing with it the scent of spring and the joy of welcoming International Women's Day on March 8th. This is a special occasion to honor Vietnamese women – the vibrant flowers that add color to life.

What is March 8th?

The history of International Women's Day (March 8th) originates from the struggle of female textile workers in the United States in the late 19th century. Exploitation of labor, poor working conditions, and meager wages fueled their resentment and determination to fight back. On March 8, 1857, in New York City, thousands of female workers marched, demanding higher wages, shorter working hours, and improved working conditions. The movement spread to many other cities and became a powerful voice demanding rights for women.

In 1910, at the Second International Congress of Socialist Women held in Copenhagen, Denmark, Clara Zetkin, a German social and political activist, proposed that March 8th be designated as International Women's Day to commemorate the struggle of American women workers and promote gender equality worldwide.

Since then, March 8th has become an important holiday celebrated in over 100 countries worldwide. It is an occasion to honor the contributions of women in all areas of life, and also a call to action to eliminate gender inequality and promote equality for women globally.
