Lao Cai aims to welcome 10 million or more tourists by 2025, with Sa Pa alone expected to receive approximately 5.8 million visitors, generating revenue of 27,900 billion VND. To achieve this goal, Sa Pa has just announced a series of tourism activities for the Spring Festival and the celebration of the Lunar New Year 2025, running until the end of March 2025; it is expected to welcome around 300,000 visitors.
The 2024 Winter Festival and 2025 Spring Festival series of events will run from December 2024 to the end of March 2025. Starting in December 2024, the 2024 Christmas celebration series, themed "Sa Pa - A Snowy Paradise," will explore the unique Oolong tea hills and cherry blossoms in O Quy Ho ward. Tourists can take photos with the stunning scenery, enjoy Oolong tea, and participate in the dazzling Christmas atmosphere, complete with gift boxes, reindeer, sleighs, and Santa Claus at the Sa Pa Ethnic Culture Park.
With its pristine beauty of the Northwest mountains and forests, and the blend of many cultures, Sa Pa has always been an attractive destination for tourists.
The New Year's Eve event series begins at 8 PM on December 31, 2024, with a special art program and New Year's Countdown held at Quan Square, featuring renowned artists such as Sen Hoang My Lan, Son Dam, Hai Yen, Minh Quan, Hoang Son, Hoang Kieu Linh, Viet Tu, Ocean Dance Troupe, DJ Marina & Joli, and other performers.
Visitors will witness a spectacular New Year's Eve celebration with a dazzling fireworks display. The first 50 visitors to arrive in Sa Pa in the new year will receive special gifts at the "Welcome the First Tourists to Sa Pa in 2025" event, held at the Sa Pa Ethnic Culture Park at 8:00 AM on January 1st, 2025.
The art program "Sa Pa - Spring Dance" (8:00 PM, January 1, 2025) at Quan Square, Sa Pa town: A musical evening combining traditional and modern art, featuring famous singers, dance troupes, and folk performances by Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay, and Xa Pho artisans.
During this period, visitors can experience a miniature cultural space of Sa Pa's ethnic groups through the communities of 5 minority ethnic groups with many rich activities such as: experiencing traditional crafts, musical performances, folk games and shows... from New Year's Day until the end of the first full moon of the Year of the Snake.
During the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays, Sa Pa will be further enhanced by unique cultural activities, creating a festive atmosphere unlike anywhere else.
At this time, major local hotels and resorts have been beautifully decorated and are organizing many activities to provide visitors with an impressive experience during the countdown to the new year 2025. At the international 5-star Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery, under the guidance of chefs, guests have the opportunity to create their own sweet home as "candy architects" and unleash their creativity with a Gingerbread House workshop at the Cacao Bakery.
2024 was a turbulent year for tourism in Lao Cai. Typhoon No. 3 caused significant damage, putting the local tourism industry in a difficult situation. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of the government, businesses, and the community, Lao Cai tourism quickly recovered and achieved remarkable results. In the last three months of the year, the number of tourists increased dramatically, demonstrating the strong vitality of the local tourism industry.
