Thirty outstanding Vietnamese students will begin their postgraduate programs in New Zealand this month. These students are the latest recipients of the New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship from the New Zealand Government. To date, more than 200 Vietnamese students have received this scholarship.

Thirty successful New Zealand ASEAN scholarship recipients, selected from hundreds of applications, will receive full funding covering tuition, return airfare, living expenses, and support during their research and thesis completion in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Haike Manning, will host an information session about living and studying in New Zealand, along with a farewell party for scholarship recipients, on January 8th. The Ambassador shared: “I would like to congratulate each and every scholarship recipient in 2016. The New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship, with international standards, honoring individuals with outstanding academic achievements, and is designed to support the future generation of leaders in Vietnam and the region.”

“The New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for Vietnamese students wishing to obtain a high-quality, internationally recognized postgraduate qualification. Studying in New Zealand opens up new and exciting futures and equips individuals with the skills and qualities to contribute to the economic, social, and political development of their respective countries,” Ambassador Manning said.

Educational cooperation between New Zealand and Vietnam is growing, with thousands of Vietnamese citizens receiving internationally recognized quality education from New Zealand. Currently, many universities in New Zealand offer collaborative educational programs with universities in Vietnam.

The New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2017 academic year. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2016, for the academic year beginning in early 2017.

The New Zealand government's fully funded scholarships are available to applicants from all fields and disciplines nationwide. However, priority is given to those in New Zealand's strong sectors as well as priority areas of the Vietnamese government, such as agricultural engineering, disaster risk management, public sector management, and private sector development.
