On the afternoon of August 29th, the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA), in collaboration with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) and the JW Marriott Hanoi hotel, held a press conference to announce the organization of the German Oktoberfest “GBA Oktoberfest 2023”. The event is sponsored by the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and for the first time, GBA Oktoberfest will be held in the coastal city of Da Nang.
The GBA Oktoberfest is an annual event sponsored by the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to promote German traditional culture and foster cooperation in various fields between Vietnam and Germany. With over 10,000 attendees annually, GBA Oktoberfest is one of the largest and most anticipated beer festivals in Southeast Asia.
This event recreates one of the oldest and most famous cultural festivals: Oktoberfest (Munich, Germany). Originating in the early 19th century as a royal wedding, Oktoberfest quickly gained popularity and spread, becoming a continuing tradition every autumn, a gathering place for many distinctive German values. The festival gradually built its brand by celebrating beer – a renowned beverage with a special recipe – combined with delicious cuisine.
This year, the event is being held under the patronage of the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and for the first time, GBA Oktoberfest will be held in the coastal city of Da Nang.
Mr. Elmar Dutt and Mr. Torben Minko – Co-chairmen of the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) – stated: “2023 marks the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany. The bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries is increasingly strengthened and valued in all areas such as culture, economics, trade, and investment… Over the years, the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) has been the voice and support of German businesses in Vietnam, aiming to promote bilateral economic and social relations between the two countries. We have continuously strived to elevate the original GBA Oktoberfest in Vietnam and spread the unique cultural values of Germany throughout the country.”
GBA Oktoberfest 2023 will bring the vibrant festival atmosphere of Bavaria with explosive moments from performances by the German and Austrian band O'zapft.
Delicious cuisine
The dishes, rich in traditional flavors, are prepared by our German head chef. Most anticipated are the selection of premium craft German beers and other non-alcoholic beverages imported directly from Germany.
The festival will take place over three nights, from Thursday, September 28th to Saturday, September 30th at the JW Marriott Hanoi Hotel, one night on October 6th at Furama Resort Da Nang, and from October 12th to 14th at the Nikko Saigon Hotel (Ho Chi Minh City).
