On the afternoon of August 29, the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) in collaboration with the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) and the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi held a press conference to announce the organization of the German Oktoberfest "GBA Oktoberfest 2023". The event took place under the auspices of the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and for the first time, GBA Oktoberfest will be held in the coastal city of Da Nang.
The GBA Oktoberfest is an annual event sponsored by the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to promote traditional German culture, as well as to contribute to promoting cooperation in many fields between Vietnam and Germany. With more than 10,000 visitors annually, GBA Oktoberfest is one of the largest and most anticipated beer festivals in Southeast Asia.
The event recreates one of the oldest and most famous cultural festivals: Oktoberfest (Munich, Germany). Born in the early 19th century, Oktoberfest was originally a royal wedding but was quickly welcomed by the people, spread and became a tradition that continues every autumn, a gathering place for many typical values of Germany. The festival gradually built its brand by honoring beer - a famous drink with a special recipe combined with attractive cuisine.
This year, the event takes place under the auspices of the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and for the first time, GBA Oktoberfest will be held in the coastal city of Da Nang.
Mr. Elmar Dutt and Mr. Torben Minko – Co-Chairmen of the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) said: “The year 2023 marks the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany. The bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries has been increasingly strengthened and valued in all areas such as culture, economy, trade and investment... Over the years, the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA) has been the voice and support of German businesses in Vietnam, aiming to promote bilateral economic and social relations between the two countries. We have constantly strived to elevate the original GBA Oktoberfest in Vietnam and spread unique German cultural values throughout the country”.
GBA Oktoberfest 2023 will bring the vibrant Bavarian festival atmosphere with explosive moments from the performance of the O'zapft band from Germany and Austria.
Delicious cuisine
The dishes are rich in traditional flavors, prepared by the German chef himself. The most anticipated are the choices for premium German craft beers and other non-alcoholic beverages imported directly from Germany.
The festival will take place over 3 nights, from Thursday, September 28 to Saturday, September 30 at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi, 1 night on October 6 at Furama Resort Danang and from October 12-14 at the Nikko Saigon Hotel (HCMC).
