When asked about his childhood dreams, author Gosho Aoyama surprised many fans by sharing that he once harbored the intention of becoming an animator. However, a casual remark from a senior member of the manga research group completely changed the course of his life. Perhaps it was his passion for art and his desire to tell interesting stories that led Gosho Aoyama to the world of manga. Many Conan fans must have breathed a sigh of relief at this point, as the author's change of direction resulted in a classic detective manga like Detective Conan.
The author shares insights into the "mysteries" behind the story-writing process.
Few people know that, in order to create such great and captivating Conan manga series, Gosho Aoyama had to make many sacrifices. He dedicated his entire youth to his creative work, almost forgetting about sleep and everyday pleasures.
The curtains were almost never drawn, allowing daylight to filter into every corner. His work schedule was also unique: starting at noon and continuing until the next morning, only snatching a few hours of sleep at dawn. It can be said that Gosho Aoyama poured his heart and passion into every stroke of the brush and every story, bringing readers a colorful and captivating world of Conan. Initially, he only intended to write the manga for three months, but it ended up taking 30 years. "I thought, who would bother reading manga with so many words like this? I never expected it to be so popular," Aoyama said.
This series is a cherished part of many people's childhoods, but it came at a cost for the author.
