Reliving the history of resistance through technology

25/04/2025

As the last days of April rush in, emotional articles, images and clips about April 30th - the day of Southern Liberation and National Reunification - begin to appear on social networks. That exciting atmosphere spreads on every personal page, every story told, making young people living in the modern world excited.

To commemorate April 30, a historic milestone of the nation, on social networks, each article and story shared carries sincere emotions, reminding of the sacrifices in exchange for today's peace. Amidst that stream of emotions, the interactive exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper has brought a space to connect history with vivid, creative, inspiring and completely different technology. The exhibition takes place from April 23, 2025 - May 4, 2025 at the campus of Nhan Dan Newspaper, 71 Hang Trong, Hanoi.

This is not a formal exhibition. Not long panels, not just black and white photos with captions. This is where history steps out of books, touches emotions, awakens national memories in the most modern way through 3D models, sound and light design, reconstructed materials, interactive clips, QR codes, and visual spaces rich in storytelling.

Interactive exhibition celebrating 50 years of Southern Liberation

"This is the first time I have been able to approach history in this way, not through numbers or tests, but through images, sounds and emotions. It feels like I am living in that moment, and understand better why April 30 is so sacred" - Nhung, a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, shared.

The exhibition attracted a large number of people to participate.

When history is no longer dry

The exhibition is designed as a continuous flow from the anti-American resistance war to April 30, 1975 and continued with the period of national reconstruction and integration. Each period is presented in different forms from rare documentary images, witness interviews, to 3D models recreating the Ho Chi Minh campaign or historical moments in the heart of the Independence Palace.

Interactivity is a highlight. At each exhibition cluster, visitors can use their phones to scan QR codes, watch extended videos, read detailed documents or listen to the narration through an inspiring voice. Technology, instead of distracting viewers, becomes a bridge to help history touch the heart in a close and natural way. No longer does it feel “dry and difficult to remember” like when learning history in class, but instead, there is curiosity, emotion and discovery.

Young people are excited about this exhibition.

The exhibition booth about the Route 9 - Southern Laos campaign attracted a large number of visitors. The 3D model combined with light and sound effects made the battle come alive in a modern space. Many people stopped for a long time, speechless before each detail recreated with high authenticity. In particular, the documentary films shown in the central area, combining vivid images and warm sound, brought tears to many viewers. In that space, history became alive, no longer distant words but an entity flowing in the blood of each person.

Technology is the bridge between the past and the present.

The exhibition clearly demonstrated one thing: when technology is used properly, history not only does not fade away, but also has a stronger vitality than ever. Special supplements published by Nhan Dan Newspaper were digitized as interactive electronic publications, integrating links to digital war maps, additional audio, video and image materials.

For the younger generation who are already familiar with smartphones and social media platforms, this innovation opens up a whole new door of access. History is no longer just knowledge to memorize for exams, but becomes a personalized experience where each person can choose their favorite content, explore at their own pace, and even share it with the community.

Images of students passionately taking notes, livestreaming to share every moment, or simply filming stories to record their experiences appeared throughout the exhibition space. These seemingly “ordinary” actions are a clear manifestation of history being relived, being retold in the language of today’s generation.

History is not just to remember, but to move forward.

The exhibition space not only recreates the events, but also instills a spirit of gratitude, pride, and readiness to shoulder historical responsibility. The videos recording the journey across Truong Son, the stories of soldiers who never returned, or the images of people rushing into the streets on April 30... are not only valuable documents, but also profound messages from our ancestors.

Today’s young generation is studying, creating and integrating in a global environment. In this cycle, preserving historical memories is even more important. The exhibition not only aims to “recall” the past, but also to arouse pride that today’s peace is the crystallization of the blood and bones of many previous generations. And from that awareness, today’s generation can continue to write history in their own way with technology, kindness, dedication and aspiration to reach further.

Young people are contributing to beautifying the country not only through slogans, but also through concrete actions - from developing community projects, green startups, to creating technological products for society. That way of life, quietly but steadfastly, is clear proof that history is not forgotten but is present in every small effort every day.

This exhibition, with its combination of creativity, technology and sincere affection for young people, is a worthy start. When young people are allowed to approach history through experience and not through compulsion, through emotions and not just through data, history will no longer be a burden, but will become a driving force for life, a source of lasting inspiration.

History, when resurrected in a new way of storytelling - through images, sounds, technology and emotions - not only does not fade over time, but is also engraved more deeply in the hearts of the new generation. Because only when young people understand and love history, will history truly last. And only when history is resurrected in a truthful and modern way, will the Vietnamese spirit continue to be written with new pages full of pride, creativity and hope.
