The poets Luu Quang Vu and Xuan Quynh, along with their children, once lived in a room that was only 6 square meters in size.2Located on a street in Hue, but through the love letters left behind, everyone can imagine how vibrant that small house once was. Thirty-one years after the two poets passed away (August 29, 1988), the room filled with their memories remains almost completely intact.
With the permission of the family of poet Luu Quang Vu and with the help of friends and colleagues, director Nguyen Hoang Diep has recreated the 6-square-meter room.2It became a small poetic corner in my "Oh, Hanoi!" space.
According to the director, she wanted to create a poetry day on the birthday of poet and playwright Luu Quang Vu so that those who loved him could come together to read poetry and remember him. And on this special occasion, a poetry room will be restored, recreating the quiet little space that was once the happy home of the late poets Luu Quang Vu and Xuan Quynh.
After visiting to take photos and gather information about the room which is only 6 square meters in size.2Nguyen Hoang Diep has undertaken the task of recreating the works of Xuan Quynh and Luu Quang Vu. In the "Oh, Hanoi!" space, she created a bookshelf with books similar to those of the two poets, and also arranged handwritten manuscripts (including poems, diaries, and family letters) by Luu Quang Vu. Around it, certificates of merit, paintings by "Brother Vu," images of "Sister Quynh," and other mementos of the two are also displayed.
The White Clouds Poetry Room officially opened on August 25th at O Kia Hanoi (639/39/39 Hoang Hoa Tham, Hanoi). The opening of the White Clouds Poetry Room is part of a series of events commemorating the poets Xuan Quynh and Luu Quang Vu, titled “Where autumn arrives, white clouds still fly back” (from August 25th to September 1st at O Kia Hanoi). This program was organized by fans of the two poets, Luu Quang Vu and Xuan Quynh, to celebrate the 31st anniversary of their passing.
