Following a ship fire in Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province), Bhaya Cruises Company has had all of its tourist and accommodation vessels suspended from operation.

The Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee announced that it has temporarily suspended the operation of all tourist and accommodation vessels belonging to Bhaya Cruise Company Limited from February 13th to facilitate inspection.

The provincial fire department has been tasked with coordinating with relevant units to investigate the cause of the fire on the Bhaya Legend QN 2071 tourist boat and report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and guidance.

Businesses are only allowed to resume operations after the inspection team reports its findings to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision. The report must clarify the cause of the ship fire, the state management agency's request for the business to implement remedial measures, and confirm that the business meets the conditions to operate and serve tourists in the bay.

Earlier, at around 3 PM on February 13th, the QN 2071 boat, while docked in Ha Long Bay awaiting passengers, suddenly caught fire in the engine room at the rear of the boat. At that time, all the tourists had left the boat to go kayaking in the Cua Van area, leaving only the crew on board. Upon discovering the fire, the crew quickly evacuated the tourists' belongings and managed to control the blaze. However, due to the excessive amount of water sprayed to extinguish the fire, the boat sank shortly afterward.

The boat QN 2071 was carrying 7 tourists for an overnight stay in Ha Long Bay, including 5 foreign tourists, 2 Vietnamese tourists, and 5 staff members. This is a wooden-hulled boat, built in 2003 and converted in 2012.
