Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs agrees with the plan of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to take an additional day off on April 29, 2024, and arrange to work later to extend the holiday. At the same time, the Ministry also agrees with the content of the draft report to the Prime Minister prepared by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
Previously, according to the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2024, the April 30 and May 1 holidays will have April 29, 2024 (Monday) falling between the two holidays and the two weekend days.
Therefore, the Ministry proposed to swap the normal working day (April 29) to another day to compensate, so that the April 30 - May 1, 2024 holiday will have an additional day off in between. Thus, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 5 consecutive days off during this occasion.
In addition to consulting with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs also consulted with 14 other ministries and branches on the content of exchanging working days.
Plan to swap 1 working day on Monday, April 29, so that the April 30 - May 1 holiday will last 5 consecutive days
If passed, this will be the second longest holiday in 2024. Previously, the longest holiday was the 7-day Lunar New Year.
According to Clause 3, Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, only the Prime Minister is assigned to decide specifically on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays, and not on other holidays.
However, by arranging to swap the normal working day (Monday, April 29) and make up for it on another day, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 5 consecutive days off.
This helps stimulate tourism and social consumption, promoting economic growth. At the same time, this swap does not change the working time fund of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.
