According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), international visitors must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 3 days before arriving in the country. The new policy applies to international visitors arriving in Thailand by air, land, and sea, starting May 1st.
The information required on the TDAC card is similar to the previously used paper forms, including personal information, travel and accommodation details, and health declarations, the only difference being that travelers can complete them online. The country hopes that the implementation of the digital declaration system will make the entry process faster, more transparent, and reduce paperwork.
International visitors must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 3 days of arriving in the country.
Applicants can log in directly to the website tdac.immigration.go.th or scan the QR code on the website and fill in the required information such as: full name, nationality, phone number, email address, passport number, accommodation address, etc. After submitting the application, the digital entry card will be sent to the email address provided. Travelers can print it out or save it on their phone to present upon entry.
This online declaration form replaces the paper-based TM6 entry form, which was discontinued last year. The switch to a digital system aims to simplify the entry process and improve efficiency at border checkpoints. This is part of Thailand's strategy to become a "Smart Tourism Destination," enhancing the travel experience for foreign visitors.
Declarants can log in directly at the website tdac.immigration.go.th or scan the QR code on the website and fill in the required information.
To promote the adoption of this system, the Thai Immigration Bureau has deployed multilingual promotional materials, including instructional videos and documents in English, Chinese, Korean, Russian, and Japanese. In addition, Thailand has temporarily postponed the rollout of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, which was planned for December 1st last year, in order to pre-screen visa-exempt tourists.
According to a report by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, in the first 11 months of 2024, approximately 1 million Vietnamese people chose Thailand as their travel destination, accounting for a significant proportion of the total 5.3 million Vietnamese tourists who traveled abroad that year. Thailand remains a popular international destination for Vietnamese people due to its affordable costs, convenient transportation with diverse routes, and attractive entertainment programs.
