In the late afternoon, when the sun gradually disappears behind the mountains, the sky turns a brilliant orange, creating a beautiful sunset picture, captivating people's hearts.
Doi Inthanon was originally named after King Inthawichayanon, who ruled Chiang Mai in the 19th century. King Inthawichayanon loved the vast primeval forests and was concerned about the increasing deforestation. Therefore, before he passed away, he wished to be buried on the highest mountain in Chiang Mai and wanted this place to become a national nature reserve.
This place has many rare animals and plants and is also an ecological area with dozens of waterfalls, caves, old forests... of nature.
In memory of King Inthawichayanon, the people named the highest mountain in Thailand after him, and Doi Inthanon National Park was officially established in 1972. Since then, Doi Inthanon has become a symbol of love for nature, environmental awareness and pride of the Thai people.
With its impressive altitude, the climate in Doi Inthanon is always cool and pleasant, with an average temperature ranging from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. In particular, in the last months of the year, the temperature can drop sharply, down to about 5 to 7 degrees Celsius, creating a chilly and romantic atmosphere. Therefore, visitors to Doi Inthanon need to prepare warm clothes, scarves and gloves to protect their bodies from the cold of the high mountains.
