Conference to implement the activity plan for the end of 2017 and the year 2018.8

Mr. Vu The Binh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association and President of the Vietnam Travel Association, stated that tour guides are the vanguard of the tourism industry, playing a crucial role in the success of a tour and creating a positive impression on tourists, contributing to building a beautiful image for Vietnamese tourism. However, currently, there is no organization managing the tour guide workforce; the majority of the 19,000 tour guides nationwide operate independently and are not affiliated with any unit. This has led to many negative consequences, including chaos within the tour guide workforce, and issues related to professional ethics and expertise that prevent tour guides from meeting the requirements to compete with other countries in the region.

After working with provincial and city tourism associations, the Vietnam Tourism Association decided to establish a provisional Executive Committee of the Vietnam Tour Guide Association consisting of 41 members, representing various regions, tour guide departments of companies, provincial and city tourism associations, and tour guide clubs legally operating within the Vietnam Tourism Association's organizations.

To expedite the implementation of activities, on November 3rd in Hanoi, the Vietnam Tourism Association held the first meeting of the Provisional Executive Committee of the Vietnam Tour Guide Association. At this meeting, the Vietnam Tourism Association announced decisions, approved the Regulations and Activity Plan, assigned members to the Provisional Executive Committee of the Vietnam Tour Guide Association; and discussed coordination in management and support for tour guide activities between the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, provincial Departments of Tourism, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Tourism Association, local tourism associations, and the Vietnam Tour Guide Association. The Provisional Executive Committee will immediately implement necessary tasks and finalize the necessary documents to organize the first Congress of the Vietnam Tour Guide Association in the first six months of 2018.
