Over the years, the sea turtle conservation efforts of Con Dao National Park have increasingly attracted tourists to Con Dao. Organized for the first time by The Secret Con Dao and AKYN Hospitality Group, the “Save Turtles Run” is a meaningful activity during the hotel's 2nd anniversary month, featuring attractive programs and offers, promising a memorable experience for visitors.

Taking place on August 20, 2022, the 6km race will pass through the most beautiful routes in the center of Con Dao town. These include the Ton Duc Thang coastal road with its ancient heritage trees, and Quang Trung Lake – the island's largest freshwater reservoir with clear blue water and fresh air. This experience is sure to leave a lasting impression on participants and contribute to promoting Con Dao as a tourist destination.
Besides raising community awareness about the value and importance of sea turtle conservation in Con Dao, the “Save Turtles Run” also exemplifies the core value of “Responsible Action” of The Secret Con Dao Hotel and AKYN Hospitality Group towards the environment and the local community. This is expected to become an annual event for the hotel and the Group, aiming to promote a healthy lifestyle and advertise Con Dao as an ideal destination for modern travelers with dynamic and innovative exploration experiences.

It's impossible not to mention Hon Cau Island during the sea turtle rescue mission in Con Dao. This is a perfectly preserved nature reserve. The island only welcomes 50 visitors at a time to minimize the impact on the natural environment, which is why the natural beauty here remains stunning, along with unique historical relics on the island.
Sea turtles are protected from the moment they are in their eggs.
Here, after experiencing snorkeling at a coral reef with what is considered the best marine ecosystem in Vietnam, visitors can witness sea turtles naturally coming ashore to lay eggs at night, bringing their eggs to the incubator to ensure maximum safety for the hatchlings.
Early in the morning, visitors will participate in releasing turtles back into their natural habitat, following the instructions of park rangers. Visitors will witness sea turtles, still with their eyes closed, finding their way to the sea based solely on the sound of ocean waves.
These tiny turtles face countless challenges in nature to survive, with a 1 in 1000 chance of survival, yet they demonstrate courage and resilience. A turtle that survives, even after a journey of thousands of nautical miles, will never forget its past, swimming back to the point from which it departed to lay its eggs and continue its great journey in the embrace of Mother Nature.
