The southwestern city’s picturesque landscapes – from bustling urban life, mountains, lush forests and vast deserts – were the ideal backdrop for Gardner’s challenging journey.
With 340 sunny days a year, Albuquerque made outdoor shooting a breeze. “It was a great opportunity to film in New Mexico,” says production designer Petruccelli. “The breathtaking natural landscapes allowed us to create some truly stunning shots.”
The film is directed by Peter Chelsom, and stars Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game, Hugo), Carla Gugino (Night at the Museum), Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight trilogy, Harry Potter series), BD Wong (Jurassic World), and Janet Montgomery (Black Swan).
