Belonging to the science fiction genre, the film revolves around the story of Gardner Elliot, the first boy born on Mars as part of a NASA experimental program. He was secretly raised there after his mother, an astronaut, died shortly after his birth. After dating Tulsa, a very quirky girl living in Colorado, Gardner decides to embark on a journey across the Solar System to meet his close friend, despite warnings from scientists that his body and organs would not be able to adapt to the atmosphere of the Blue Planet. How will Gardner race against time and harsh nature to win Tulsa's heart?

The film...The distance between usIt will take us on a gentle, sweet emotional journey as the young couple overcomes geographical distance to find each other, and together answers the question, "What do you like most about Earth?".
Besides its captivating plot and sweet love messages, the film also attracts viewers with its stunning visuals. Revealing details about the filmmaking process, the producer stated that almost all stages of production were handled by the filmmakers themselves.The distance between usAll of this was done in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The picturesque landscapes of this southwestern city – from its bustling urban life, mountain ranges, lush green forests, and vast desert – provided the ideal backdrop for Gardner's challenging journey.
With up to 340 sunny days a year, Albuquerque provided an incredibly favorable environment for outdoor filming. Production designer Petruccelli stated, “Filming in New Mexico was a fantastic opportunity. These spectacular natural landscapes allowed us to create truly impressive footage.”
The film was directed by Peter Chelsom and stars Asa Butterfield (Ender's Game, Hugo), Carla Gugino (Night at the Museum), Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight trilogy, Harry Potter series), BD Wong (Jurassic World), and Janet Montgomery (Black Swan).
