According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, this is a groundbreaking step, one of the solutions demonstrating the government's decisive direction to create favorable conditions for tourism development. Currently, visa issuance faces many difficulties, as the issue is not how much tourists have to pay, but rather the inconvenience they endure during the visa application process, especially the travel time and costs, which can be many times greater than the visa fee itself. Electronic visa issuance will resolve this bottleneck.

The e-visa process will be completed within 3 days, and the visa validity period will be 30 days. The e-visa market is virtually unlimited. This will help eliminate intermediate steps, reduce costs, and increase the number of visitors to Vietnam.
Regarding the communication efforts to raise awareness among international tourists about e-visas, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan stated that the tourism industry will utilize all available methods, such as posting information on websites, notifying embassies, and informing international travel companies about bringing tourists to Vietnam. In the current strong trend of information technology, the pilot program for e-visas will spread quickly and become an immediate part of daily life. However, the tourism industry still hopes that Vietnam will implement more favorable policies because even with e-visas, the level of competitiveness and attractiveness to international tourists cannot yet compare with other countries in the region that have opened their doors to tourists by granting visa exemptions to citizens of many countries worldwide. For example, Thailand grants visa-free entry to 58 countries, Malaysia to 158 countries, the Philippines to 168 countries, and Indonesia to 169 countries… This means that most of the major international tourist markets for countries in the region have been granted visa-free entry, eliminating the existing barriers.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism believes that this new policy will quickly come into effect, contributing to attracting more international tourists to Vietnam in the coming time.
