Leaders and top managers from more than 40 airlines gathered at Farnborough Airshow to attend the Skytrax Awards Ceremony – the world’s largest airline rating and ranking organization – on July 12. The most prominent was AirAsia, which was named “World’s Best Low-Cost Airline” for the eighth consecutive year. The award was decided based on a survey of 19 million passengers from 104 countries. They rated airlines based on price, food quality, seat comfort, amenities, and crew service.

Continuously receiving awards from 2009 to 2016, AirAsia is the leading and largest low-cost airline in Asia with an extensive network of over 100 destinations. During its 15 years of operation, the airline has served over 330 million passengers and grown its fleet from 2 to 170 aircraft as it is today.
AirAsia has also signed an order for 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft. The deal was announced by AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes and Airbus President Fabrice Brégier at the Farnborough Airshow. The new aircraft will help AirAsia increase its efficiency and offer more convenience.
During the awards ceremony, Skytrax also announced the 10 best airlines of 2016 including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, ANA All Nippon Airways, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, EVA Air, Qantas Airways and Lufthansa Airlines. Topping the list, Emirates Airlines has won this award three times.
Coming in second in the world is Qatar Airways, which was also voted “Best Business Class Airline”, “Best Business Class Lounge” and “Best Service Airline in the Middle East”.
