Recently, Mr. N.D. Van (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) said that on the morning of July 10th, he took his family to Dam Sen Water Park (District 11) for fun, but had to leave early because they could hardly "do anything". Excitedly buying tickets (200,000 VND for adults, 160,000 VND for children), the family was very disappointed to see a "sea of people" in the water park.
"There wasn't even a place to sit and eat, and the bathing area was incredibly crowded, so not only was there no way to play, but everyone was also very tired, especially children and the elderly."
According to Mr. Van, his family spent over 1.2 million VND on tickets and transportation, so they felt cheated because the value they received was completely disproportionate.
Crowds of tourists at Dam Sen Water Park
"Businesses are well aware of their service capacity and customer volume but still ignore it to maximize profits, regardless of the fact that overcrowding could endanger customers. This is unacceptable," Mr. Van said angrily.
Besides Mr. Van, many people have recently complained about overcrowding at entertainment venues during the peak summer tourist season, including Dam Sen Water Park.
On July 11th, Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, Deputy Head of Sales Department of Dam Sen Water Park Joint Stock Company (District 11), confirmed that there was a large influx of visitors, exceeding the park's capacity, during the weekend. Specifically, on July 10th (Sunday), the park welcomed approximately 11,000 visitors, a 4-5 fold increase compared to a weekday.
According to Mr. Cuong, with an area of nearly 20,000 m²2Dam Sen Water Park can accommodate 5,000-6,000 visitors at the same time, but because many visitors choose to go at the same time, especially on weekend mornings, it sometimes becomes overcrowded and there aren't enough tables and chairs to serve everyone.
"The establishment has a system to count the number of customers entering and exiting to manage the appropriate number, and when there are many customers, they also notify the players. However, many customers are families, especially those from distant provinces, and they still accept the crowded conditions when notified, as long as they can get in. From an emotional standpoint, it's difficult to turn customers away or make them wait, so the establishment facilitates their entry," Mr. Cuong explained.
