The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has recently sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and relevant departments in Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces regarding the organization and operation of long-distance waterway tourist transport routes from Ho Chi Minh City to these two localities. Accordingly, the high-speed ferry route will transport tourists from Ho Chi Minh City to Tien Giang province (approximately 110 km) and to Ben Tre province (approximately 120 km), and vice versa.
The boat's route starts from Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) or Saigon Port, Nha Rong (District 4), following the Saigon River - Nha Be River - Soai Rap River - Vam Co River (or via Nuoc Man Canal - Can Giuoc River) - Cho Gao Canal - Tien River… to inland waterway ports and wharves in Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, and vice versa.
In July 2022, it was possible to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Tien Giang and Ben Tre by high-speed ferry.
Two long-distance waterway tourist transport routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces and vice versa are expected to be operational from July 2022.
The planned operators are Saigon Tourist Co., Ltd., DP Green Technology Co., Ltd., and Thuong Nhat Co., Ltd. Each company will operate two ships, each with a capacity of 75 to 151 passengers. It is expected that three companies will operate approximately six ships, with the ships running from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. Regarding fares, the companies will agree on a price to ensure stability and attract passengers.
Based on field surveys, connections between tourist areas, tourism products, ports and wharves, and proposals from provincial authorities, the operating unit will supplement and refine the route and operating hours to suit the needs of tourists.
In addition to the two routes mentioned above, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation has also recently proposed to the City People's Committee to send a document to the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee requesting support and cooperation to soon put into operation a high-speed passenger ferry route from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao.
