For over two decades, Ms. Duong Thu Hang of Hanoi Studio Gallery has worked with numerous young Vietnamese artists, helping them find direction and develop their artistic careers. Nguyen Quoc Trung is one of the artists who has grown under her guidance. Ms. Hang also mentored Craig Thomas when he began managing galleries in Saigon in the early 2000s, guiding him in discovering and supporting promising young artists.

Regarding Nguyen Quoc Trung's latest collection, Thien Tien, Ms. Hang said, "Trung has dedicated a great deal of time and effort to researching and mastering his own technique, to be able to make a thick and bold material like oil paint appear delicate and soft, like watercolor. Trung doesn't focus on depicting detailed objects or using strong, bold lines in his paintings. The smallest difference between light and dark creates a melody without the mark of time, but instead something eternal, giving the viewer a feeling of gentleness and purity."

Speaking about the Celestial Fairy collection, Trung said,Day after day, the urge for something gentle grew stronger, and of course, the suggestion from Hanoi Studio was also very important in my search. Then one day, I decided to let everything fall apart, to spread out, and I was immediately mesmerized. I felt the rhythm, the breath of those streaks of color as they dissolved; I saw them running, alive, moving. That gentle fluidity was very similar to watercolor on paper, but technically, painting like that was completely different.”
