Phuong Quoc Tri (born in 1976) is a self-taught artist with a natural talent for creating captivating visual images in a very distinctive style. He has held numerous solo exhibitions in Vietnam and abroad. His live painting demonstrations in Singapore and Tokyo have been very successful.
Tri is a skilled portrait painter. Whether based on photographs or direct observation, Tri has created many portraits that not only realistically portray the image but also the soul within the artwork.
In the "Inside - Outside" exhibition series, Tri focuses on showcasing his portrait painting skills. On the opening day of the exhibition, artist Phuong Quoc Tri will hold an on-site portrait painting session. This is a rare opportunity to admire the masterful brushstrokes of this talented artist.
Tri's works are rich in imagery. His main themes are women from ethnic minorities, nudes, and women in traditional ao dai dresses. Each character tells a unique story; some are hopeful, some are strong-willed, while others are uncertain about their fate. His works are like classical music – viewers are compelled to think, compare, and form their own opinions. His characters contain many profound emotions; their lives are filled with both joy and sorrow. The viewer's gaze is drawn to the images and follows the train of thought to find answers to difficult questions.
