This is the content of the announcement by Peng Shiduan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, during a meeting with Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, at the meeting, Counselor Peng Shiduan affirmed that tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China before the COVID-19 pandemic was extremely good, bringing mutual benefits to the people of both countries and making a practical contribution to fostering Vietnam-China friendship. China always values and listens to proposals from Vietnam.
Counselor Peng Shiduan stated that, authorized by the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, he came to the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to inform them that the Chinese government had decided to include Vietnam in the pilot program for reopening group tourism in the second phase (starting March 15, 2023).
Mr. Peng Shiduan also stated that Vietnam will be one of the priority countries for consideration of direct flights, waiving the requirement to provide PCR test results within 48 hours. Incoming travelers will only need to provide rapid test results or undergo a 2% probability test.
China hopes to continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam, working together to ensure the legitimate rights of tourists from each country.
For her part, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa expressed gratitude to China for its cooperation with Vietnam in exchanging and adjusting activities in tourism cooperation. This is the result of efforts by all levels and sectors of both sides in resolving the issue, and is good news for the entire tourism industry and the people of Vietnam, who wish to be free to travel and explore after a long period of the pandemic.
