Snow blankets the northern mountainous provinces.

25/01/2016

Thousands of tourists flocked to Sa Pa on January 24th and 25th, leading to a shortage of accommodations and hours-long traffic jams in the town. Besides Sa Pa, Moc Chau, Y Ty, Mau Son, and Ta Xua were also snow-covered highland destinations that attracted many tourists despite the cold and freezing weather.

From the night of January 23rd and the early morning of January 24th, snow began to fall in some areas of Sa Pa (Lao Cai). Many tourists stayed up all night to admire the snow. By the morning of January 25th, the snow and ice had spread to many other places such as Mau Son (Lang Son), Moc Chau (Son La), Luc Ngan (Bac Giang), Khau Pha (Yen Bai), Yen Tu (Quang Ninh), Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc), and even Ba Vi National Park (Hanoi) was covered in white snow and ice.

According to the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting Center, the northern and north-central provinces will continue to experience widespread severe cold weather from now until January 27th, with frost and snowfall continuing in mountainous areas.
