ASEAN Ceramics 2017 has grown by 40% compared to the previous edition, largely due to the increase in the number of exhibitors with new technologies in digital printing, energy efficiency and material sourcing. This year, the exhibition will be moved to Building 101 at BITEC, which boasts excellent facilities and is located right next to the bridge leading to the city’s newly built skytrain station.

The previous ASEAN Ceramics Exhibition and Conference attracted 234 exhibitors from 29 countries and trade buyers from 36 countries, mainly from Asia with the largest number of attendees coming from Vietnam, followed by India, China, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Brunei, Philippines, Myanmar and Pakistan.

Held in Bangkok, ASEAN Ceramics enjoys an ideal geographical location in the heart of Southeast Asia, providing direct access to South Asian, Central Asian and Far Eastern markets like no other in Asia, with easy entry procedures and reasonable travel costs. ASEAN Ceramics also has the highest turnout and exhibitor participation, representing 47 countries in the last two editions with an average international participation rate of 82%.

"Climate change in Europe has also helped boost investment and competition in the region as companies seek to expand into new markets. Exchange rate advantages, manufacturing quality and low domestic demand have created positive incentives for businesses to penetrate Asia and this has also been reflected in recent trends, not only in Vietnam,"Dr. Somnuk Sirisoonthorn, President of the Thai Ceramics Association, organizer of the International Conference on Traditional and Advanced Ceramics, said.

"The fact that China's costs and market barriers continue to rise is driving European investors to the Eastern market and with all the ASEAN demand for materials and technology increasing, it is no surprise that ASEAN Ceramics 2017 is expected to be the most successful event in its history as it was created to cater to the markets in the Southeast Asian region in particular. In addition, Thailand exported a lot of ceramic products worth up to 784 million USD last year and is now stepping up investment to continue, develop the trend and grow the market,"Mr. David Aitken, CEO of Asia Exhibition Services Co., Ltd., the organizer of the ASEAN Ceramics Exhibition, said.

ASEAN Ceramics 2017 is actively supported by government agencies including Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Office of the Prime Minister; Mechanical and Electrical Consultants Association of Thailand (MECT)), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), under the Ministry of Industry. The exhibition and conference are also supported by 28 domestic and international trade organizations.

The ASEAN Ceramics Exhibition and Conference is a biennial event held in odd years, alternating with the Tecnargilla exhibition in Italy (held in even years), and is a unique opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their products, services and technologies in the fields of tiles, sanitary ware, tableware, heavy clay and other advanced applied ceramics.
