Vietnam Airlines celebrates the opening of Cat Bi International Airport, Hai Phong

On May 12, to celebrate the inauguration of the new Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong), Vietnam Airlines deployed the new generation modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to conduct 02 inaugural flights to/from Cat Bi Airport, under the presence and witness of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, representatives of ministries, central agencies and Hai Phong City, along with major agencies and press agencies.

Accordingly, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner (flight number VN-A861) successfully performed flight VN1182 from Ho Chi Minh City landing at Cat Bi International Airport at 9:25 a.m. and flight VN1183 departing from Cat Bi Airport to Ho Chi Minh City at 10:45 a.m.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh - General Director of Vietnam Airlines said: "On the occasion of the inauguration of Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong), Vietnam Airlines has successfully operated and safely landed the new generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft as a congratulatory gift from the national airline to Cat Bi Airport in particular and Hai Phong City in general. Along with the implementation of synchronous services at the airport with 4-star quality according to international standards, bringing the new generation Boeing 787 aircraft to Cat Bi Airport aims to realize Vietnam Airlines' commitment to always accompany domestic airports, affirming its operational capacity, developing domestic and international flight networks, upgrading service quality, and better meeting the travel needs of passengers"

Boeing 787 Dreamliner makes 02 inaugural flights to/from Cat Bi airport

The successful inaugural flight initially marked the capacity and operational efficiency of the new Cat Bi International Airport, allowing takeoffs and landings of new generation modern aircraft of Vietnam Airlines.

Vietnam Airlines has been operating flights to/from Hai Phong since the 90s and is still maintaining and developing to make Hai Phong city, along with Hanoi, a transit hub in the Northern region. It is expected that in the coming time, the airline will continue to coordinate with local authorities to survey and evaluate the need to increase frequency, open new routes to/from Hai Phong, especially international routes, as well as officially put into operation new generation aircraft such as Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus 350-900 XWB to better meet passenger needs.

 

 

Currently, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific are operating about 100 flights/week on 4 routes to and from Cat Bi airport, of which Vietnam Airlines operates 03 routes Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City/Da Nang/Nha Trang and Jetstar Pacific operates 02 routes Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City/Buon Me Thuot. Hai Phong is also a key destination, part of the dual-brand program between Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific to serve the diverse needs of passengers traveling to and from the Northern coastal region of Vietnam.
