Boeing 787 Dreamliner operates two inaugural flights to and from Cat Bi Airport.
The successful inaugural flight marked the initial achievement of the operational capacity and efficiency of the new Cat Bi International Airport, allowing the take-off and landing of modern, next-generation aircraft of Vietnam's national airline.
Vietnam Airlines has operated flights to and from Hai Phong since the 1990s and continues to maintain and develop the route, making Hai Phong, along with Hanoi, a major transit hub in the Northern region. In the near future, the airline plans to continue coordinating with local authorities to survey and assess the need for increased frequency and the opening of new routes to and from Hai Phong, especially international routes, as well as officially introducing new generation aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus 350-900 XWB to better meet passenger demand.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific operate approximately 100 flights per week on four routes to and from Cat Bi Airport. Vietnam Airlines operates three routes: Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh City/Da Nang/Nha Trang, and Jetstar Pacific operates two routes: Hai Phong – Ho Chi Minh City/Buon Ma Thuot. Hai Phong is also a key destination within the dual-brand program between Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific, serving the diverse needs of passengers traveling to and from the northern coastal region of Vietnam.
