Vietnam's banh mi was ranked 6th on the list of the world's 100 most delicious foods, with an overall score of 4.6 stars out of 5, according to Taste Atlas experts. They also instructed international diners on how to pronounce the dish as "bun mee" and introduced it as a popular dish among locals.
Vietnamese Bread: From a popular dish to the world
Vietnamese sandwiches are made primarily of crispy baguettes, a legacy of French cuisine introduced to Vietnam. This sandwich has been adapted to suit Vietnamese tastes and has become an indispensable part of Vietnamese street food. The fillings are rich and varied, often including meat (such as grilled pork, chicken, beef, or pâté), cilantro, chili, pickles, herbs, and special sauces, reflecting the unique taste of the Vietnamese people.
Banh mi not only brings great taste but also is a testament to the culinary culture exchange between Vietnam and France. The delicate combination of crispy bread and fresh ingredients, skillfully prepared, has created a dish that is loved not only in Vietnam but also all over the world.
Broken rice, rated 4.5 stars and ranked 40th on the list of best dishes, is a signature dish in Ho Chi Minh City. Broken rice is made from broken rice, a type of rice whose grains are broken during drying, transportation, or milling. Broken rice grains are similar to regular rice, only smaller, creating a special texture and flavor when eaten.
Born as an easy-to-eat and popular choice among the working class in the South, the dish has gradually found its way and reached the famous class from Vietnamese chefs.
This dish is often served with a variety of foods, including fried eggs with intact yolks, creating a rich and attractive flavor. Thinly sliced pork skin mixed with roasted rice bran creates a crispy and fragrant taste. Pork ribs are marinated and grilled fragrantly, which is the main ingredient that creates the characteristic flavor of broken rice. Fresh vegetables help balance the flavor and increase the crispiness of the dish. Scallions fried with fat, poured over the rice, create a rich and delicious taste. The most special thing about this dish is the sweet and sour fish sauce, made from fish sauce, sugar, vinegar or lemon and garlic chili, which helps enhance the flavor of the dish.
Broken rice is not only a popular dish in the daily life of Ho Chi Minh City people but also a part of the local culinary culture. The combination of broken rice and rich side dishes creates a nutritious and flavorful meal, attracting not only locals but also international tourists when visiting the city.
Traditionally, a meal consisted of rice, scallion oil, and a piece of pork skin. Nowadays, Vietnam is famous for its grilled pork ribs.
Pho is the third dish mentioned, ranked 54th with 4.4 stars and is considered as "Vietnam's national dish", "convenient street food, reflecting the local lifestyle". Pho is also the most favorite Vietnamese dish abroad thanks to its unique, simple but luxurious flavor.

Traditionally, pho broth is made from chicken or beef stock, simmered over low heat for at least three hours to bring out its natural sweetness. Adding local herbs and spices to the dish, Taste Atlas said, “takes pho to the next level.”
Vietnamese Pho is a unique and delicious dish of world class.
In addition, Taste Atlas also appreciates the diversity and richness of Vietnamese street food with many other unique and attractive dishes such as bun cha, banh xeo, goi cuon,...
