On May 11, Mr. Tran Van Phuc, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh, said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development agreed to coordinate with the locality to organize the Ocean Tuna Festival.
From July 28 to July 31, the Ocean Tuna Festival took place in Binh Dinh to promote the brand and support fishermen to increase their income from catching this type of fish.
Ocean tuna is a major aquatic resource of Binh Dinh province.
According to Mr. Phuc, the Binh Dinh Ocean Tuna Festival aims to introduce the strengths of ocean tuna exploitation, gradually improving the position of the tuna fishing industry in particular and seafood exploitation in general in the international arena.
"The festival is a good opportunity to promote and consume the Binh Dinh ocean tuna brand, contributing to improving exploitation efficiency, building a production chain and expanding the domestic and export tuna consumption market," said Mr. Phuc.
On average, Binh Dinh fishermen have 11 offshore tuna fishing trips each year (each trip lasts about 25 days). To catch this type of fish, people have to drop fishing lines with hooks for fresh squid into the sea at a depth of 60-100 m.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong, Vice Chairman of Hoai Nhon Town People's Committee, said that Tam Quan Bac ward has about 1,150 offshore fishing vessels with more than 6,000 fishermen catching ocean tuna, achieving an annual output of about 10,000 tons and a revenue of 1,000 billion VND.
According to the Vietnam Tuna Association, the country currently has 35,000 tuna fishermen, mainly concentrated in the three provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa. The annual catch is about 17,000 tons, with Tam Quan Bac ward, Hoai Nhon town (Binh Dinh) alone having more than 6,000 tuna fishermen.

Also in July, Binh Dinh also organized many cultural and artistic activities of international stature such as: the final round of the Miss World Vietnam 2022 contest at Merryland Quy Nhon, the VN Express Marathon Quy Nhon,... This province sets a target that from now until the end of the year, the number of tourists visiting will reach nearly 3.4 million and by the end of 2025, 8 million tourists will come to the locality for sightseeing and tourism.
