The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province announced that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just issued an urgent dispatch to the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority, and the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities, regarding the response to the tropical depression.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province directed the relevant units to closely monitor the developments of tropical depressions and storms; organize counting; and inform owners of vehicles and captains of ships and boats operating at sea about the location, direction of movement, and developments of tropical depressions and storms so that they can proactively take preventive measures, evacuate, or avoid moving into dangerous areas.
A number of passenger transport routes to islands such as Con Dao, Phu Quy, Ly Son, and Cu Lao Cham have been temporarily suspended.
Strictly manage the operation of ships and boats at sea. All vessels, including passenger transport vessels on the Sa Ky - Ly Son route and vice versa, are prohibited from going out to sea from 12:00 PM on September 18th until the weather stabilizes.
Agencies, departments, and local authorities throughout the province need to inform, guide, and urge owners of aquaculture cages and rafts on rivers and seas to urgently move to safe locations.
A representative from Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company stated that many of the company's passenger transport routes have been temporarily suspended due to bad weather conditions. Specifically, the Thang Long ferry, operating the Vung Tau - Con Dao route and vice versa, will be suspended on weekends from September 14th to September 29th until further notice.
The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province directed the relevant units to closely monitor the developments of tropical depressions and storms; organize counting; and notify the owners of the vessels.
To ensure the health and safety of passengers, many train routes have been temporarily suspended. For customers who have paid a deposit or 100% of the ticket price, the operators will refund the remaining amount or exchange tickets for those on subsequent operating days.
Regarding the response to heavy rainfall, the Quang Ngai provincial leadership requested the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities to closely monitor forecasts and rainfall developments in their areas. They were instructed to deploy forces to guard 24/7, erect warning signs, and decisively prohibit people from traveling through dangerous areas (underpasses, overflows, deeply flooded roads, landslides, etc.). They were also instructed to inspect, review, and implement plans to ensure the safety of reservoirs and downstream areas, especially small hydropower reservoirs and irrigation reservoirs that are in disrepair.
According to the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard Command, as of 5:00 AM this morning, the total number of fishing vessels operating at sea is 206 with 1,942 crew members. Of these, 144 vessels with 761 crew members are operating in coastal waters. Offshore vessels include 25 vessels with 176 crew members in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands area and 37 vessels with 1,005 crew members in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands area.
