Starting from October 28, 2024, Air Astana will launch a new route, departing from Almaty (Kazakhstan) to Phu Quoc (Vietnam) with a frequency of twice a week, then increasing to four times a week from December, according to Astana TV channel.
Accordingly, flights will depart on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:45 p.m. (local time) from Almaty and arrive in Phu Quoc at 8:15 a.m. The return flight will depart on Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing from Phu Quoc at 9:45 a.m. and arriving in Almaty at 3:50 p.m. (local time). It is expected that this will increase to 4 flights per week in December.
With beautiful beaches, diverse ecosystems and high-quality tourism services, Phu Quoc is becoming a dream destination for international tourists.
This is considered a positive signal for Phu Quoc, showing the increasing attraction of the island which has just been internationally recognized as the second most wonderful island in the world, by the World Travel Awards of the famous travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
Vietnamese tourists will also benefit from this direct flight, as Kazakhstan has exempted visas for Vietnamese citizens since June 13, 2023. Tourists from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can choose to travel to Phu Quoc, then depart for Almaty. The expected ticket price announced by Air Astana is from 18 million VND for a round-trip ticket.
Many tourism experts say that Phu Quoc tourism is bustling again with the arrival of many international flights. This year, the number of international visitors to Phu Quoc is forecast to double compared to the same period last year.

According to the description of Kazakhstan newspapers, Phu Quoc is a picturesque island. Astana TV channel commented that Phu Quoc is becoming famous with tourists all over the world thanks to its white sand beaches and clear water.
In August 2024, Phu Quoc City is estimated to welcome more than 561,000 visitors (up 4.3% over the same period), of which international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 91,000 (up 177.6% over the same period); total revenue reaches more than 2,000 billion VND. Accumulated in 8 months, it is estimated to welcome more than 4.5 million visitors, international visitors are estimated to welcome more than 653,000 visitors, total revenue reaches more than 14,800 billion VND.
