Starting October 28, 2024, Air Astana will launch a new route from Almaty (Kazakhstan) to Phu Quoc (Vietnam) with a frequency of twice a week, increasing to four times a week from December, according to Astana TV.
Accordingly, flights will depart on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:45 PM (local time) from Almaty and arrive in Phu Quoc at 8:15 AM. The return flights will depart on Tuesdays and Thursdays, taking off from Phu Quoc at 9:45 AM and arriving in Almaty at 3:50 PM (local time). It is expected that the number of flights will increase to four per week in December of this year.
With its stunning beaches, diverse ecosystem, and high-quality tourism services, Phu Quoc is becoming a dream destination for international tourists.
This is seen as a positive sign for Phu Quoc, showing the increasing appeal of the island, which was recently recognized internationally as the second best island in the world by the World Travel Awards of the renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
Vietnamese tourists also benefit from this direct flight, as Kazakhstan has waived visa requirements for Vietnamese citizens since June 13, 2023. Travelers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can choose to visit Phu Quoc Island and then fly to Almaty. Air Astana has announced an estimated round-trip ticket price starting from 18 million VND.
Many tourism experts say that Phu Quoc tourism is booming again with the arrival of many international flights. This year, the number of international visitors to Phu Quoc is predicted to double compared to the same period last year.
Air Astana will launch a new direct flight route to Phu Quoc Island.
Currently, international tourists visit Phu Quoc from over 150 countries and territories via numerous direct international flights from Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan (China), and charter flights from Greece, Dubai (UAE), Singapore, Uzbekistan, etc. In addition, there is a significant influx of international visitors from other parts of Vietnam. South Korea has the most flights to the island, with four airlines currently operating.
According to descriptions in Kazakhstani newspapers, Phu Quoc is a picturesque island. Astana TV noted that Phu Quoc is becoming popular with tourists worldwide thanks to its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.
In August 2024, Phu Quoc City is estimated to have welcomed over 561,000 visitors (a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year), including over 91,000 international visitors (a 177.6% increase compared to the same period last year); total revenue reached over 2,000 billion VND. For the first eight months of the year, the city is estimated to have welcomed over 4.5 million visitors, including over 653,000 international visitors, with total revenue exceeding 14,800 billion VND.
