The golf course is in excellent condition to host the tournament organized by the Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs and the Hai Phong Golf Association at a very significant time, coinciding with a spectacular flowering season in Hai Phong city.
The invitational division championship went to golfer Nguyen Huu Thanh, whose par shots on the first nine holes secured his victory. Second place went to Nguyen Son Ha, and third place to Nguyen Thanh Phuong. Things seemed different for Nguyen Son Ha if he hadn't suffered a triple bogey of 7 on the par 5 11th hole. A superb birdie on the final hole, one of the most challenging par 5s in Vietnam, was the only significant outcome. Similarly, third-place finisher Nguyen Thanh Phuong, who seemed to have secured the championship with his first nine holes, suffered a triple bogey of 7 on the par 5 13th hole. His comeback with a 2-stroke birdie on the 16th hole wasn't enough to claim victory in this division.
In the women's category, golfer Nguyen Thi Loan won the championship, golfer Ha Thi Phuong Loan took second place, and golfer Lai Thi Phuong Lan came in third.
In Group C, for golfers with handicaps between 24 and 36, Ta Xuan Phuong won the championship with solid shots throughout all 18 holes. Both third and second place finishers, Tran Duy Minh and Luong Van Thanh, had a strong chance of winning, with very little difference in score from the group leader. Both second and third place finishers had a poor start, with triple and double bogeys on the first holes, while the group winner started with par on both holes. Despite a triple bogey on hole 9, Tran Duy Minh still secured third place in this group. Ta Xuan Phuong achieved a remarkable feat, winning the first place in the group despite a double bogey on hole 7.
In Group B, for golfers with handicaps from 13 to 19, Nguyen Duc Dang took first place. He started with two bogeys, then bounced back with a birdie on hole 3, and subsequently had a brilliant day of play. He played very consistently, especially on the last nine holes with only one bogey, and the rest were all par. Second place went to Vu Minh Hien, who had a less-than-stellar start with two double bogeys and another triple bogey, only truly recovering in the last nine holes with just 3 over par. Third place went to Tran Quoc Chinh, who rediscovered his form after the first four holes, with one bogey and one birdie.
In Group A, for golfers with handicaps from 1 to 12, Nguyen Van Tam and Truong Duc Hung failed to surpass Nguyen Van Bach to win the Group A championship. Nguyen Van Tam started with a birdie and played very well on the next four holes, only bogeyed when he started his turn on the next nine holes. Third-place finisher Truong Duc Hung balanced his scorecard with eight par holes equaling the number of bogeys, and only double-bogeyed the last two holes, pushing him down to third place in the group.
All attendees present in the auditorium at the Do Son Golf Club that day truly congratulated golfer Dam Thanh Vinh on winning the tournament with 10 holes at par and 1 hole at birdie, for a total score of 78 points.
Mr. Ta Minh Duc – Deputy Director of Do Son Golf Course, stated at the awards ceremony: “We are very happy and proud to have organized this tournament, and we also know that all the golfers participating had a wonderful day here – today there were some who played very well, some who didn't play so well, but above all, everyone had a relaxing day playing golf on a standard golf course, thanks to the excellent management of Golf CEO Evans Mahoney and his associates, and the coordinated organization of the Hai Phong Golf Association. We hope to organize this tournament in the coming years, as well as support the organization of tournaments for the business community in Hai Phong in particular and throughout Vietnam in general to contribute to building relationships within the business community.”
