04/02/2018

On February 4, 2018, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province, Phu Quoc island district and Sun Group Corporation inaugurated a 7,900m long three-wire cable car connecting An Thoi town with Hon Thom island - the largest island in An Thoi island cluster. The Hon Thom cable car, when put into operation, will be a driving force to promote economic and tourism development in the South of Phu Quoc island.

Hon Thom cable car is a 3-wire cable car line with European technology, with 6 cable pillars, built across Hon Dua and Hon Roi islands. With a total length of 7,900m, Hon Thom cable car was awarded the Guinness World Record for the longest cable car. The cable has 69 cabins, each cabin can carry about 30 passengers. The cable speed is set at 8.5m/s, with an estimated capacity of 3,500 passengers/hour. Hon Thom cable car shortens the travel time of tourists from An Thoi to Hon Thom to 15 minutes instead of 30 minutes by canoe at sea. All cabins have wifi and a night lighting system.

According to information from a representative of Sun Group Corporation, the ticket price for this cable car route for adults and children over 1.3 m is 500,000 VND/person; children under 1.3 to 1 m is 350,000 VND/person; children under 1 m are free.

After the opening ceremony, the cable car and Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park marine entertainment complex will welcome guests on February 14, 2018, the 29th day of the Lunar New Year.
