Mezzotono, Italian instrumental group to perform in Vietnam

12/06/2014

At 20 on June 16, Mezzotono, an Italian solo band, will perform at “Casa Italia”, 18 Le Phung Hieu, Hanoi.

This is a performance program within the framework of the Italy-Vietnam Program 2014. “Mezzotono, the Italian unaccompanied ensemble” consists of five young Italian artists who perform entirely with the “a cappella” technique, meaning they create voices and music without using any instruments, with their voices expressing the sounds of the different instruments. This unique approach of the five artists encourages the audience to join in their melodies, becoming part of the orchestra itself.

The artists' performances explore the diversity of Italian music, with interpretations of many different styles. From jazz to bossa nova, from mambo to tango, from big-band to classical - all songs have a very different effect from the original version due to the improvisation and rhythmic harmony of the vocals.

"Mezzotono" has performed in several theaters in Italy and abroad. The artists have also organized workshops and Masterclasses in universities abroad all over the world on "a cappella" vocal technique. In October 2008, the group was selected as one of the ten best groups in Italy and was invited to make the CD "A Cappella Made in Italy".

At the concert in Hanoi, some famous Italian songs will be performed such as: “Quando quando quando” (Tony Renis), “Un uomo in frack” (Domenico Modugno) and “Buonasera Signorina” (Fred Buscaglione).
