Götene, a town with beautiful natural scenery 320 km southwest of the Swedish capital Stockholm, is selling 30 plots of land with starting prices of just 1 krona (22,000 VND)/m2.
According to local government regulations, buyers can build residential houses or resorts on those lands.
A town of 5,000 people in the city centre and 13,000 in the surrounding areas, Götene is situated in some of Sweden's most beautiful countryside. It lies on the shores of Lake Vänern, the largest natural lake in Scandinavia and the EU, with an area around 10 times that of Lake Constance.
Götene is also located near a small mountain - Kinnekulle and is home to two UNESCO-listed sites: Platåbergens Geopark and Lake Vänern Islands.

The program aims to encourage people to live and work in Götene, helping the town to grow and become more prosperous.
However, it should be noted that the discount only applies to 29 specific plots in the area zoned for new housing. These plots range in size from 700 to 1,200 square metres and buyers have two years to complete the construction of their homes.
This is a place where lucky buyers can build their dream home.
In addition, buyers also need to meet certain conditions such as committing to reside in Götene for at least 5 years, must build housing in accordance with local regulations and especially must not resell the land within 10 years.
The government of Götene hopes that this land can attract more people to live and work, thereby boosting the real estate market and developing the local economy. So they invest money in the market, to attract more people and at the same time boost the birth rate which is gradually decreasing.
The housing market in this area is currently growing very slowly. This is also the general situation in Sweden.
This program has attracted the attention of many people around the world, especially those who are passionate about peaceful life and close to nature. Götene is known for its beautiful natural landscape, with many lakes, forests and hills. The town also has good infrastructure and full facilities, including schools, hospitals, shops and entertainment areas.

After implementation, 4 out of 30 initial potential buyers were able to buy land at 1 krona/m2. Plots of land range in area from 700 to 1,200 m2.
However, after the news spread, Mayor Johan said the government received thousands of phone calls from all over the world asking to participate. In response to the overwhelming demand, the government has suspended the bidding process until early August to find a more viable option. When it restarts, it is likely that there will be a land bidding process instead of selling land for just 1 krona/m2.
