According to Keo Nguyen, Mu Cang Chai is at its most brilliant golden rice season, from September to mid-October. This is known as the most beautiful season of Mu Cang Chai, where the terraced fields - one of the symbols of the farming culture of the Northwest mountains - are covered in a splendid golden color.

The green rice season is from August to September, and from mid-September to October, the rice begins to turn yellow and becomes an endless 'golden carpet'. The road only had a few minor landslides and they were fixed, so the journey still went smoothly."
