This new exchange rate will apply to all applicants who pay visa application fees from April 10th onwards. For those who paid before April 10th, the old exchange rate of VND 25,000/USD will apply, and they can use their payment receipts until their expiration date.
This exchange rate adjustment will significantly increase US visa application fees. For example, the current fee for a B1/B2 tourist visa is $160, equivalent to 4,000,000 VND. After the adjustment, this fee will increase to 4,160,000 VND.
The exchange rate for US visa applications is 26,000 VND/USD.
The exchange rate for US visa applications does not fluctuate in line with domestic market conditions. However, at an exchange rate of 26,000 VND/USD, this rate is currently higher than the exchange rate listed by Vietnamese banks.
Citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), such as Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Brunei, do not need to apply for a U.S. visa. However, they still need to apply for a Travel Authorization to Stay (ESTA) before entering the U.S. U.S. citizens can enter nearly 150 countries and territories without a visa. Many countries issue visas upon arrival or electronic visas (e-visas).
