This new exchange rate will apply to all applicants who pay visa fees from April 10 onwards. For those who have paid before April 10, they will be applied the old exchange rate of VND25,000/USD and can use the payment receipt until it expires.
This exchange rate adjustment will cause the US visa application fee to increase significantly. For example, the current fee for a US B1/B2 tourist visa is 160 USD, equivalent to 4,000,000 VND. After the adjustment, this fee will increase to 4,160,000 VND.
The exchange rate for US visa applications is 26,000 VND/USD.
The exchange rate for US visa applications does not follow domestic market fluctuations. However, with a conversion rate of 26,000 VND/USD, this exchange rate is higher than the listed exchange rate of Vietnamese banks.
Citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) such as Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Brunei do not need a US visa. However, they still need to apply for an ESTA before entering the US. US citizens can enter nearly 150 countries and territories without a visa. Many countries issue visas to US citizens on arrival or issue electronic visas (e-visas).
