Mr. Truong Tran Ngoc Hung – Head Representative of Vietnam Airlines in Australia, said: “The first flight landing at Sydney airport with nearly 230 passengers shows the very positive market response to the direct Hanoi – Sydney route. Through this direct flight of over 9 hours with no stopovers, Vietnam Airlines has increased the total number of flights to Australia to 17 flights per week, making travel between Vietnam and Australia easier and more convenient. The new route, operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft and 4-star international quality service, will bring passengers enjoyable experiences and successful trips.”

Kerrie Mather, CEO of Sydney Airport, said: “We are delighted that the new Hanoi-Sydney route provides even more options for passengers. With approximately 40% of Vietnamese people living in New South Wales (Australia’s most populous state), this new route will significantly contribute to supporting travel and visiting relatives for the Vietnamese community.”
The Hanoi – Sydney route operates three flights per week using the new generation Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Flights depart from Hanoi at 23:55 on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and from Sydney at 15:15 (summer time) and 14:15 (winter time) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, with a flight time of approximately 9 hours and 35 minutes.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, Lotusmiles members will receive bonus miles when flying on each direct flight between Hanoi and Sydney operated by Vietnam Airlines between March 28 and April 28, 2017, with the following benefits: An additional 2,500 bonus miles for Business Class flights; an additional 1,750 bonus miles for Premium Economy flights; and an additional 1,250 bonus miles for Economy Class flights.
