What type of visa do you need?
There are two types of Taiwan visas: sticker visas and electronic visas (e-visas). E-visas are essentially a form of visa exemption for qualified people.
1. You can apply for an e-visa if you meet the conditions
- Possess a passport valid for at least 6 months (from the date of entry into Taiwan).
- Be a Vietnamese citizen and have a visa from one of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Korea, and Schengen visa.
- Never worked as a manual laborer in Taiwan.
- Have a round-trip ticket or a ticket to a second country other than Taiwan.
2. Visa sticker
If you have never applied for a Taiwan visa before, you will need to apply for a sticker visa. This is a type of visa that is pasted directly into your passport.
Electronic visa application process
1. Required documents
- To apply for an electronic visa, you need the following documents issued by the US, Canada, UK, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and the Schengen area:
- Valid residence card or permanent residence card;
- Valid visa (including electronic visa, but must be printed on paper).
For residence cards or visas that have expired within 10 years:
- In case of having an Australian or New Zealand e-visa and wanting to apply for a conditional visa exemption, the e-visa must still be valid.
- From September 14, 2023, Vietnamese tourists using advanced visas from Korea and Japan to apply for e-visas to enter Taiwan will not be accepted when registering on the online review system.
- Applicants for e-visa can be holders of a visa or residence card issued by the Republic of China (Taiwan) within the past 10 years, without violating the law. However, this condition will not apply to visas issued by the Republic of China (Taiwan) with the visa symbol FL (Foreign Worker visa); X (other visa); P (Guan Hong special case visa); Residence card with the purpose of residence stated as FL (Foreign Worker).
For accepted documents, you must present the original, not a photocopy.

2. E-visa application process
Access the linkhttps://niaspeedy.immigration.gov.tw/nia_southeast/ Select the appropriate language and follow the instructions to apply for an e-visa.
- In case of successful registration: The system will display the Approval information, you select the Print button at the bottom of the page, download a PDF file. This is the Entry Permit Certificate. Please print in color on A4 paper.
- In case of failed registration: The system will display the message “Please Check with the counter of this office”. Thus, you must prepare the traditional visa application documents at the Taipei Office.
3. What documents do I need to bring when entering with an e-visa?
- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months (from the date of entry into Taiwan).
- Must have a plane ticket proving departure from Taiwan: Round-trip ticket to Taiwan or plane ticket to next destination outside Taiwan.
- One of the documents proving that you are eligible for a Taiwan e-visa is listed in the required documents section above.
- Taiwan e-visa must be valid. Note that e-visa holders must still pass immigration inspection before entering the country.


Visa application process
According to the latest update from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Vietnamese people applying for a Taiwanese passport need to prepare:
- Original passport valid for 6 months or more (signed), photocopies of visa pages and entry and exit stamps on the passport and a photocopy of the passport.
- Visa application form (signed, photo attached). Get the application form athttps://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw(General Visa), then print it out and submit it with other relevant documents.
- 2 4x6 white background photos taken within 3-6 months.
- Passport (valid for at least 6 months) and passport photocopies (all pages containing personal information and information about places of entry/exit).
- Proof of employment (such as employment contract, health insurance, social insurance, etc.). Submit a photocopy and the original for verification and return. Note: For health insurance and social insurance, you can print from the photo taken in the VssID app.
- Leave application with the company manager's stamp and signature. If the director, only the company's business registration certificate is required.
- Proof of financial resources (savings book). Submit a photocopy with the original for comparison and return.
- Booking round trip tickets and hotel.
- Taiwan travel itinerary (be as specific as possible).
- Single entry visa: $50 (results available after 5 working days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays) and $75 for urgent applications. Multiple entry visa: $100 and $150 for urgent visas.
- Multiple entry visa allows entry/exit more than 2 times, including the case of traveling to many places outside Taiwan and then returning to Taiwan again within the visa period.
When submitting your application, please arrange it in the correct order. When you come to submit your application, please ask for a number as soon as the office opens and ask for instructions on how to arrange your application to ensure smooth work.

Note: The office only accepts visa applications in the morning and returns results in the afternoon. To avoid long waiting times when submitting your application, you should arrive 40 minutes to 1 hour early to complete the procedure quickly.
