On September 6, Kien Giang Maritime Port Authority announced the suspension of high-speed ferries from Rach Gia City. Specifically, ferries have temporarily suspended operations on routes such as: Rach Gia, Ha Tien to Phu Quoc, Nam Du and vice versa. The route Rach Gia to Hon Son and vice versa is managed by the Inland Port Authority and is still operating normally.
On the same morning, the ferry companies, upon receiving the notice of temporary suspension of operations, also notified agents and passengers of the temporary suspension of operations so that passengers could take the initiative in their work and time. At the same time, they refunded the tickets or rescheduled them to the next trip when the ships resumed operations.
Due to the impact of storm Yagi and to ensure passenger safety, the Maritime Port Authority of Kien Giang province temporarily suspends ferry services.
According to the forecast of Kien Giang Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of storm No. 3, the sea area of Kien Giang will be cloudy; there will be showers in many places and scattered thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon. During the thunderstorm, there is a possibility of tornadoes and gusts of wind of level 7, level 8, with waves of about 2m high.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requested: People's Committees of districts and cities to closely monitor forecasts and warnings of the development of storm No. 3, promptly and fully inform authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent, respond and minimize damage.

Previously, from August 31 to September 3, Kien Giang province had heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and big waves that collapsed and blew off the roofs of 4 houses in Go Quao and Vinh Thuan districts. A barge carrying construction materials was sunk by waves in the Hon Tre sea area (Kien Hai), causing 3 crew members to drift away, but were fortunately rescued.
This is the second time this month that trains and ferries on the route have stopped running due to bad weather.
Phu Quoc Island is 120 km from Rach Gia city and 45 km from Ha Tien city. There are more than 30 high-speed ferry trips from the mainland to Phu Quoc every day. Tickets that have been purchased will be refunded or changed for passengers.
Meanwhile, Phu Quoc Express Ferry Joint Stock Company also said that the ferry from Vung Tau City to Con Dao, a distance of more than 185 km, stopped running on September 7 and 8 due to bad weather. There are three ferry trips from Vung Tau to Con Dao every week. This morning, the ferry from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy in Binh Thuan, and from Sa Ky port to Ly Son, Quang Ngai, also stopped running.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that tonight, super typhoon Yagi with the strongest wind speed of 201 km/h will enter the Gulf of Tonkin, causing heavy rain and thunderstorms. The sea area from Binh Thuan to Kien Giang will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, gusts of wind of level 8-9; and waves of 2-4 m high.
