It's no exaggeration to say that never before on April 30th has the red flag with a yellow star been so ubiquitous, covering every corner of the nation, from the ground to the sky, as it is this year.
Not only veterans, but also the younger generation enthusiastically join in the atmosphere with pride and excitement. To contribute to the nationwide enthusiasm, the capital city of Hanoi will organize many commemorative activities throughout the holiday, creating opportunities for people from all walks of life to relive the history of the victory 50 years ago. Below are some of the most special places and activities for Hanoi residents to visit during this holiday:
1. Interactive exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam.
Taking place at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper (71 Hang Trong, Hoan Kiem) until May 4th, the exhibition utilizes augmented reality (AR) technology and 3D mapping to recreate historical campaigns such as the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. Viewers can interact and explore detailed information about historical events through QR codes.

2. Vietnam Military History Museum
From April 30th to May 4th, 2025, the Vietnam Military History Museum (28A Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh District) will offer free admission to the public. In addition, the museum will host a thematic exhibition, "The Epic of the Great Victory in Spring," showcasing valuable artifacts and documents about the resistance war against the US, helping visitors gain a better understanding of Vietnam's military history.

3. Circus program "National Festival"
Starting April 26th, the Central Circus will host a special art program titled "National Festival." With an audience of 10,000, the program features two performances daily at 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM, combining traditional and modern circus acts to reflect the spirit of unity and the aspiration for national reunification.

4. Introduction to the Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Craft at Chuyen My and an experiential workshop.
At the Hanoi Old Quarter cultural space, artisans from Chuyen My village (Phu Xuyen district) showcased the traditional mother-of-pearl inlay crafting process. Visitors had the opportunity to participate in workshops and directly experience the various stages of mother-of-pearl inlay making under the guidance of dedicated instructors.

5. Photo exhibition “Memories and Legends”
The photo exhibition "Memories and Legends" presents 50 moving portraits of Vietnamese mothers – living symbols of maternal love and silent but intense patriotism.

6. Special topic: "A Unified Nation"
The exhibition features nearly 150 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into three sections: "The Aspiration for Unification," "Vietnam is One - The Vietnamese People are One," and "A Unified Nation." Through images and artifacts, the exhibition recreates the journey of the struggle for independence and national unification, from the Geneva Accords to the Great Victory of Spring 1975, contributing to the education of patriotic traditions and arousing national pride in generations of Vietnamese people.

7. Exhibition “The Path to Unification” and water puppet performance.
The "Road to Unification" exhibition at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site is one of Hanoi's key activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam. Taking place from April 28th to May 31st, 2025, the exhibition showcases over 200 valuable documents, images, and artifacts, vividly recreating the historical journey from the 1973 Paris Agreement to the 1975 Ho Chi Minh Campaign. Held at the revolutionary site of House and Bunker D67 – the location of the General Headquarters of the Vietnam People's Army during the final stages of the war against the US – the exhibition offers the public an authentic and profound experience of a glorious period in the nation's history.

8. Exhibition “Made of Bamboo” and installations about the craft street of Hang Bac.
Contemporary art spaces in Hanoi showcase works made from bamboo – a symbol of the nation's resilience and perseverance. In addition, art installations depicting the craft streets of Hang Bac offer a fresh perspective on the interplay between tradition and modernity.
