Airlines also issued notices to passengers. In the latest notice, Vietnam Airlines said that "storm number 3 - Yagi is expected to directly affect the northern region of our country on September 6, 7, and 8. Localities need to focus on prevention to ensure safety and avoid serious consequences from the storm.

The Northern Gulf of Tonkin area is being forecast by experts to have a level 4 natural disaster risk (red) - a high risk level, just after level 5 (purple) - a catastrophic risk level.

There are 3 levels of natural disaster risk due to tropical depressions and storms (level 3, level 4 and level 5); classified based on intensity, scope of influence, areas directly affected and potential damage of the natural disaster. The risk level of each type of natural disaster is divided into a maximum of 5 levels and is assigned a characteristic color on the maps, according to the increasing level of natural disaster risk.

According to the Washington Post, Hurricane Yagi has become the second strongest storm of 2024 globally, behind only Hurricane Beryl, a storm with winds of 265km/h in the eastern Caribbean on July 2.
