The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has just announced its 2020 domestic tourism stimulus program, with the participation of hundreds of travel, transportation, accommodation, and sightseeing businesses. Besides deep discounts, the highlight of the program is a group of attractive new products.

Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said: The domestic tourism stimulus program will run from June until the end of the year with nearly 260 tour programs and 280,000 discounted tickets with reductions of 10-70%, through the participation of more than 100 businesses.

The highlight of the program is a group of products that revitalize Ho Chi Minh City's signature destinations with preferential prices and many attractive services such as: experiencing 5-star heritage hotels, high-tech agricultural zones, cooking classes, etc.

In particular, 12 tourist attractions and entertainment venues in the city will offer discounts of 20-50% on entrance fees, such as Skydeck Bitexco (50% off), and Vam Sat tourist area (free entry for individual visitors)...

At the same time, most hotel segments, including 80% of 5-star hotels in the city, have committed to participating in this stimulus program, providing a total of more than 200,000 room nights at discounted prices of 22% - 68%.

Meanwhile, transportation companies are also participating in promotions offering discounts of 30% to 55% on airfares. A representative from Vietjet Air stated that they will provide 2.5 million tickets from 8,000 VND across their entire network over three days, from June 9-11. Mr. Le Hong Ha, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, also said that as of May, the airline had confirmed over 24,000 seats for its stimulus programs.

Commenting on these stimulus activities, Mr. Vu The Binh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said: "While people are still hesitant to leave their homes, the massive influx of tourists to tourist attractions in many localities will create a strong media effect, helping the tourism industry recover."

However, Mr. Le Quang Tung, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, noted that Ho Chi Minh City needs to strictly control this program, ensuring preferential pricing but preventing unfair competition that puts pressure on small businesses. At the same time, the city needs to work alongside and promptly implement support packages for tourism businesses to overcome this difficult period.
