Regarding assets: 25 ships and boats of all kinds sank at their anchorage in Quang Ninh; many electric and telecommunication poles were broken, 5 500KV power lines, 31 220KV lines, 97 110KV lines, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Hanoi suffered widespread power and communication outages; 7,394 houses were damaged; many shops, offices, and schools had their roofs blown off or damaged; many advertising signs and urban trees were uprooted or broken...
With its terrible winds, Typhoon Yagi has caused severe destruction.
Storm No. 3 flooded and damaged 97,735 hectares of rice and 11,746 hectares of crops; damaged 6,902 hectares of fruit trees; and damaged and swept away over 1,100 aquaculture cages (mainly in Quang Ninh). Although localities have proactively deployed many response measures to Typhoon Yagi, the devastation of the natural disaster still exceeded imagination. The storm, with wind gusts of level 12 and 13, swept through the provinces and cities for a long time, causing serious consequences.
Besides the outstanding results in storm response implementation, the damage caused by storms is still very large.
In particular, coastal areas were severely affected by high waves and high tides. Many boats were sunk and swept away, causing great economic losses to fishermen. Unfortunately, some people, including boat owners and crew, did not comply with the government's recommendations, leading to unfortunate consequences.
In the face of prolonged heavy rains after storm No. 3, which threatens to cause serious consequences, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control requests localities to urgently and synchronously deploy response measures. Specifically, localities need to maintain the sea ban, increase inspection and review of areas at high risk of flooding and landslides, and prepare forces and means to respond in case of emergency.
In addition, overcoming the consequences of the storm and stabilizing people's lives must also be given top priority. Only with close coordination between the government and the people can we overcome this difficult period.
