On the morning of August 19, on Nguyen Huu Canh Street (Sai Gon Ward, old District 1), a special project was officially inaugurated. The mural street "Beautiful Vietnam" with a length of nearly 600 m and an area of more than 2,600 m² has set a record as the largest mural in Vietnam. From here, the walls that were just an inanimate boundary between the streets and offices and schools have turned into a stream of memories, a mirror reflecting the national spirit, both brilliant and solemn.

In the joyful atmosphere welcoming the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Huu Canh mural street is expected to become one of the attractive check-in spots in Ho Chi Minh City.

The forgotten walls
It is not by chance that this project was born. Previously, many walls and electric poles along the streets in Ho Chi Minh City were defaced by illegal advertisements, especially small pieces of paper related to "black credit" and "septic tank pumping". They not only spoil the urban appearance but also pose a potential risk to public order and security.
From that situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Police advised the Steering Committee 138 to launch a campaign to remove the dirt. Hundreds of union members, association members, and residents joined hands to remove the layer of dirt on the walls. But the campaign did not stop at cleaning. Because if we just wiped it away, tomorrow there would be another layer of advertising covering it up. Instead, a creative idea was implemented: turning those walls into works of art. And from there, the series of murals "Beautiful Vietnam" was born, becoming a symbol of the determination to build a civilized city.

The work is titled "Beautiful Vietnam" with vibrant colors.
The flow of history and the relationship between the army and the people on Nguyen Huu Canh Street
The 20th project in the series is painted on the wall of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Saigon University and Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation. Walking along the road, people seem to be drawn into a multi-episode film, where each frame is a slice of memory.

The wall became a living history book that stopped many people in their tracks.
In particular, the 300-meter-long painting on this route has made many passersby stop, and traffic participants also turned to look when stopping at red lights. The image of 36 military parade blocks in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day was vividly recreated: from the neat ranks of soldiers, the heroic artillery convoy, to the iron birds covering the blue sky. Each block, each color is depicted in great detail by the artists, creating a majestic picture like an endless epic.

For nearly two months, about 20 young artists in Ho Chi Minh City have been diligently working on the walls, patiently drawing each line and adjusting each color block. It is not only an artistic creation, but also a dedication of today's generation to the nation's unforgettable memories.
Walking along the road, one feels like reliving an epic poem. Interspersed among the troops, vehicles, planes and fluttering national flags are peaceful homeland landscapes, happy smiles, or images of police officers and people. On the background of the painting are strong slogans: “National Independence”, “The Country is Full of Joy”, “Keeping the Sea and Sky of the Homeland”, “Peace is Beautiful”, “Steel Shield Protects Peaceful Life”, “In the Glorious Sky”, “50 Years of Vietnamese Spirit”. These phrases are not simply lines of words, but like echoes from history, reminding passersby that every step today is walking in the flow of memories.

Images of the parade blocks were recreated with slogans to protect the Fatherland.
What moved viewers was not only the beauty, but also the community spirit behind it. Each stroke was the sweat and dedication of the police force and young artists, and the coordination between the government and the people. The painting not only renewed the appearance of the city but also affirmed the close relationship between the armed forces and the people - a companion on the journey of preserving and building the country.
